Due to the high loads that can occur due to snow pressure and therefore deformation and possibly the risk of collapse, the weight of the snow must be calculated in time. Then it can be determined when to take action to remove the snow. During the winter period, weather forecasts must be closely monitored so that action can be taken if heavy or persistent snowfall is expected.

Primary when removing snow from the roofs is the safety of the people on the roof and the safety of the public in the vicinity of the work. For the sake of general safety, the work site will be fenced off with construction or crush barriers, so that the public cannot enter the hazardous area. An employee also supervises that nobody can be within these working limits. Any access on the roof must also be able to take place safely, this can be done by means of an approved aerial platform or work platform on a tower crane.

To have the first snow removed, we can spread special thaws at the location. The defrosting pellets are spread by means of a manually operated gritter and / or manually spread evenly over the roof. The effectiveness of the thaw pellets depends on the composition / structure of the snow. In addition, the snow is often removed from the surface manually (with hand shovels / sweeps) and / or with suction cars.
